Will other ordinary games have addition Natal control options? Or will Microsoft be focusing on making games from the scratch for the Natal?
Our focus on most if not all of them will fall into that category of completely unique, brand-new experiences for Natal," said product management director Aaron Greenberg. "We're going to manage the portfolio very carefully and our focus is going to be on bringing completely brand new original experiences to the market when we launch Natal."
Microsoft spokesman re-confirmed at the ongoing Consumer Electronic Show that the first two ‘Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’ download packs are due this spring.
"That's a big reason you'd want to buy an Xbox 360 instead of another console," said Greenberg.
Microsoft also announced that Microsoft’s software ‘Mediaroom’ is will be releasing on Xbox 360 (as Mediaroom 2.0) “later this year”, because of AT&T’s U-verse service.
Greenberg explained the three-year delay of the technology, “Well, the technology that we showed [in 2007] was brand new and showing that it worked. What we then did was we went out to the IPTV content providers and said, 'Hey, now this is an option for you.”
But do not rush to assume that Xbox 360 will replace your set-top box. Just consider the console as another “node” that will rely upon users’ current IPTV box for some of its functions, as per Microsoft reps at CES. That will include DVR writing features.
Mediaroom on Xbox 360 will rely on PC or current IPTV set-top box for the storage purposes.
An online game fanatic Alpha_boss posted on 1up.com, “I can only imagine all the sweet stuff that natal is going to bring to gaming. I see myself navigating through UIs with just my hand motions and scrolling through menus like some sort of bad ass star wars fleet commander. And i’m pretty sure the only people who are criticizing Natal are old fat people who are scared to death of the day when gaming changes from just sitting on their ass eating cheetos....not that I have anything against old fat people...or cheetos.”
Another game-enthusiast Goodiemob on the same site wrote, “Ironically I see a genre that has not performed well on consoles thus far -on rail shooters- performing admirably on Natal. Let the game handle the beautiful motions and vistas while I concentrate on hand movements, attacks and minor directions to control the game.”
