CHINESE PC MAKER Lenovo has decided to enter what it calls the "digital lifestyle" market with four new desktops and one laptop.
This apparently is just an opening salvo in Lenovo's cunning plan to flog home theatre PCs and home servers.
The IdeaCentre Q700 is a home theatre PC that's paired with the IdeaCentre D400, the company's first Windows Home Server box. Both will give you a penny change from $500.
The company has also released two Atom-based nettops, the Q100 and Q110, which will be priced at $249 and $349 respectively. Oh, and there is a U450p notebook, which will be priced at $799.
All of these are designed to slot Lenovo into the home entertainment business that IBM pulled out of years ago.
The Q700 comes with a choice of Intel Core 2 Duo processors, either the E5200, E5300, or E7500, up to two terabytes of internal storage, 8 USB ports, plus an eSATA port for external hard drives.
The box supports up to 1920-by-1080 (1080p) video and graphics and 7.1-channel surround sound. The unit ships with Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11b/g WiFi. A TV tuner is optional. The Q700 runs Windows Vista Home Premium 64.
