VTL was asked to maintain this application, make it robust and upgrade it.

The challenge:
The main challenge was to understand the application, which was written by multiple programmers at multiple times using multiple VB objects. Unfortunately no documentation was available and this was also one of the prime reasons client approached us. Further the application being a VB based standalone application was not accessible for maintenance on the web.

The solution
VTL installed the application on its own server and analyzed the code to prepare first level documentation to identify the code relating to various modules. VTL's engineers played with the code and acknowledged themselves with the application in terms of processes and flow of the application along with the coding patterns, database structure and complete technology aspects. After extensive documentation and code walk through VTL resolved all the outstanding bugs of the application. (See our methodology)

The application was built using VB objects of various versions and our engineers reworked the code to bring it to a uniform standard. We developed multiple versions of the application and maintained them using VSS. As this application was live in many hotels, we used remote installation to access all the subscribed hotels systems and install our patches and upgrades.
